DUI

DUI, or Driving Under the Influence, is a serious offense that should never be taken lightly. Mixing alcohol with driving a vehicle can have devastating results – for either you, or an innocent person, or both. There are many things everyone should know about DUI, but the first and most important thing is that it is illegal across the country and states are cracking down on it even more. Significant fines, suspension and sometimes termination of your driver’s license, and even jail time are just some of the punishments you can receive if arrested and convicted of DUI. Each state has a different definition of DUI, but all are similar in that the penalties are severe.

DUI and You

As mentioned before, states are taking a long, hard look at DUI and are implementing harsher penalties, and are changing the definition of DUI to make it easier to get caught. DUI in many places now equals out to having approximately 2 drinks within an hour and then operating a motor vehicle. Though you may not consider yourself inebriated, if you are pulled over and the police conduct a breathalyzer and you are caught with your blood alcohol content over their limit, you will be charged with DUI. A DUI can ruin your life, and it can also ruin your family’s life as well as anyone you may hurt because of your DUI.

DUI laws do vary from state to state, and this is another reason you should pay particular attention to the laws of the state you are in at all times. DUI blood alcohol content limits fluctuate, and this is probably the most important thing to know if you are out having drinks and then driving. Remember, the penalties can be severe, and they are definitely not worth getting a DUI.
