Lawyers in Miami have to deal with a lot of laws, just like every major metropolitan city in the country, but lawyers in Miami have to pay particular attention to drug trafficking in Miami. Miami has over 3.2 million people within its limits, and it is hard enough to handle the everyday crime. Drugs have encroached into the city of Miami due to it’s close proximity to the Carribean, a place the United States does not govern. While many programs have been put in place to try to educate the population of Miami, drugs remain a problem. And lawyers in Miami have to prepare themselves to have a large number of cases dealing within the drug world.

Miami Law

In 2001, around 52% of the Federally sentenced defendants in Southern Florida, which, in large proportion is Miami, were charged with drug offenses. This shows just how large a problem drugs are in Miami, and jsut how much a lawyer in Miami should know about the drug laws. In February of 2001, Operation Riverwalk was enacted, in an attempt to enforce the existing drug laws along the Miami River, and to decrease the drug trafficking in the area. This was a task force made up of local, state and federal agencies, and included a number of lawyers to ensure everything was done legally.

Drugs and the Lawyers in Miami

Drugs are a major issue in Miami. Unfortunately, it is affecting the youth of the city as well. Lawyers in Miami are experts on the drug problem down there and understand it is a different situation down there - one that also is heavily involved in the actual trafficking of drugs into Miami. While these things must be stopped, lawyers in Miami are also there to protect the citizens of Miami and make sure everything is legal.
