The trial of O.J. Simpson during the 1990s really gave light to the celebrity lawyer and portrayed these types of lawyers as those who could take care of any legal situation for the right price. In reality, many celebrity lawyers are those who have put in their time to understand the legal system and are priced as such to potential clients. For millions of dollars, these lawyers can identify problems in legal cases and have a reputation with judges and other lawyers that may be intimidating or may simply demonstrate the power of the celebrity lawyer. So, who are some celebrity lawyers? Here is a list of just some:
How Celebrity Lawyers Get Their FameWhile of course there may be exceptions with some lawyers, many people are under the impression that a celebrity lawyer is simply someone who gets paid a lot of money to protect the rights of someone who can afford to pay them enough. There is an underlying stereotype that celebrity lawyers are actually not talented, but rather, they simply get the job done because they have enough money to do so. In actuality, celebrity lawyers are typically the cream of the crop as far as lawyers go. These are men and women who have trained as lawyers for years and who are capable of doing the best possible job in the courtroom. Lawyers like Robert L. Shapiro have explained that celebrity lawyers are well-respected, firs for their job in the court room, and secondly, for their ability to lure in big name clients. Celebrity Lawyers As ScapegoatsThe debate over the O.J. Simpson case still races on to this day, as many people still believe that the celebrity lawyers were the only reason O.J. was acquitted of his crime. True or not, celebrity lawyers are often scapegoats in these cases and catch flak from the media simply for doing their job and doing it well. Celebrity lawyers should be studied and understood more before people make brash comments regarding their reputation and/or social standing. Just because they do well at their particular career does not mean that they should be treated as though they were one of the criminals that they represent. |
